Capron Carter Australia is a wholly owned
Australian company which has remained a family business since its inception in 1912. It was founded by Lorance Rogers Carter and Henry Achilles Capron primarily as an import export operation handling many varied products such as human hair, refrigerators, motor vehicles, cigars and a range of machinery. Lorance Carter continued managing the business until his death in 1964 at the age of 89.
One of the first agencies related to the textile industry was Eastman cutting machines closely followed by Lewis and Merrow sewing machines. An important milestone was in 1934 when the company was appointed the Australian distributor for Union Special, an agency which we still held today, making us their longest serving distributor.
One of the most significant additions to our range came in 1994 when the Juki Corporation appointed Capron Carter as the sole authorised distributor for their sewing machines in Australia. The quality of the Juki machine has made it the number one choice for manufacturers and Tafe colleges throughout the country.
We supply world renowned leading brands of industrial sewing machines, ironing equipment and fusing presses as well as StyleCAD; Australia's biggest selling computerised pattern grading and marking system. An extensive product range which includes; used machines, spare parts, sewing needles and attachments is available in each of our four branch offices.
